kelzama, I think that might be it!
It definitely felt as if he had "borrowed" the character from somewhere, which is why I got the strong feeling that I had seen Lord Bingham before.
Thanks - looking forward to seeing it!

I saw PQ over the weekend. I was literally on the fence about seeing a different show instead, because I had read so many posts about how bad PQ is. BUT I am soooo happy that I decided to give it a shot, becuase I really liked it. I have been thinking about the show all day, which means I really connected with the actors and the characters they played. I thought the storyline between the the two women was something I had never seen before, and I too liked it better then Les Miz. I thought it came across very empowering. I really hope they keep making the changes needed to open, because it seems from the previous posts that they have already made quite a few changes that have been for the good. Overall- loved it, I think it will do well, regardless of all the bashing on this board!

WishingWell-
I'm glad to see that somebody so "on the fence" about seeing this show took the chance to form their own opinion and actually ended up loving it. My friends and I truly enjoyed this production as well. I thought the storyline between the two women was thrilling. Thanks for having an open mind and sharing your thoughts!

FriedmanFan-
Thanks! I just discovered these boards, so this was actually the first time I have read message board posts before seeing a show. I have learned my lesson and if a show looks good to me - I will definetly go see it.

Okay, so I did think of just a couple of things I wanted to add to my review.
I forgot to mention Jeff McCarthy as Dubdhara. He did a wonderful job and has great stage presence. It's a shame he's only in the first act because he was a pleasure to watch.
And not to harp on William Youmans, but I was reading the synopsis of the story in the Playbill and it says that even though they've "made some changes to the character" that Lord Bingham was one of the most "ruthless representatives" that England ever sent to Ireland. If that's the case than they way they have Bingham written or the way Youmans portrays Bingham (I think it's probably a bit of both) really do a disservice to the character. He honestly comes off as comical and I found myself wanting to laugh at him rather than take him seriously, which I should want to do if he really was such a ruthless person.
And finally, I've been thinking about this show almost non-stop since I saw it. It really left an impression on me - the story, the acting and the music. I found myself humming songs from it all day yesterday and I wish I had a recording to listen right now. I hope I get the chance to go back and see it.

I agree Bwaydoc. I can't get the songs out of my head. I really hope they will release a cast recording soon after Opening!
According to SJB, they will start working on the recording the Monday after the show opens and it should be released in late May, early June.

WishingWells-- Those of use who don't like the show want other people to form their own opinions as well. We are not expressing our dislike to get people to stay away from the show. We are expressing our dislike because we DISLIKED it.
SorryGrateful~
I can understand and sympathize with wanting others to see your point of view. However, there are way of expressing thoughts of disappointment and dislike. Often times, this board comes across with venom in their words.
(please understand I am not writing this to bash anyone or be argumentative...just a concerned reader--LOVE LOVE LOVE)

SorryGrateful-
I know you were addressing WishingWells but I wanted to quickly chime in. I have no problems whatsoever with people expressing their dislike for a show on these boards. That's one of the reasons they were created. But some posters (not including you) actually are warning people to stay away! To qoute theaterbiz "IT IS TERRIBLE - stay away!!!!" This poster created a screenname right after he saw the show and has two other posts both bashing PQ. These are the posters to which people refer to. Obviously theaterbiz has a hidden agenda. But thoughtful posts/reviews loving or hating this show are ALL WELCOME! I love these kind of discussions. I have really enjoyed seeing what people's ratings are for this show. It's amazing how much they run the gamut. So, thanks for your imput SorryGrateful. I've enjoyed reading your past posts and hope you know nobody is asking you to silence your opinions.

I don't really see the point of mincing around and not saying exactly what we think. There are a lot of people who don't like the revival of Company, which I adore, but I don't follow them around the threads telling them to be nicer. It's useless. I think there are some people who need to revise how they think of criticism. It's not always a bad thing.

I agree with your post wholeheartedly. All opinions are welcome, however telling readers to "stay away" or that something is "crap", is inappropriate. This type of commenting is belligerent and does and will influence others from seeing a show. No one has the right to impose that type of opinion.(IMHO)

I like reading what people think about shows, good and bad, but to be completely honest, I read the thread about "Pirate Queen- It Sinks" and truely thought that this show was not worth my money. So, I may have been naive for reading too much into it, but it almost stopped me from seeing a show that I really loved. I just don't want that to happen to other people.
