I definitely have to agree with the last twenty minutes of the Crucible. That Scene with Elizabeth and John is just heart-wrenching. And "He has his goodness now...God Forbid I take that from him" Best last Line Ever!
In THE CRUCIBLE, I love the line: "John, I had always counted myself so plain, so poorly made, no honest love could come to me!"
The end of Act 1 of "The Women."
Horace's death in "The Little Foxes."
Tuesdays with Morrie I was crying hysterically at the end of the show
Ghosts the ending
I would have to say almost all of the normal heart and the end or wit. Thanks for making this a thread only for plays. It is nice once in a while.

I have to agree with the mention of 'Night, Mother. I'm not much of a crier, but I was struggling to keep from bawling outright during the second half.
I also felt a little teary during the scene at night on the beach in AFTER THE FALL. Carla Gugino really acted the hell out of that scene.
The only play that made me pratically bawl was at the end of THE ELEPHANT MAN. Good lord, I felt like my dog was just ran over or something. It was so emotional
Mine are both from "Our Town:" The stage manager's speech before he plays the minister at Emily and George's wedding and the entire third act, but especially Emily's final "goodbye" speech. Heartbreaking.
ooo i forgot about the elephant man. That was so sad but an amazing play.
oh, i forgot about w;t! (cturtle bawls and crawls away ...)
I agree with so many of these (just thinking about The Normal Heart makes me sniffle). I'll add two parts from Metamorphoses-- Alcyone waiting for Ceyx to return, and Orpheus petitioning Hades while kneeling under the water. Oh, and the Leonide/Agis revelation scene in Wadsworth's translation of "Triumph of Love" (not to be confused with the musical version, which goes on another thread). That moment was worth the price of my ticket!
don't cry all by yourself turtle! I will cry along with you!
the last act of Steel Magnolias...never fails!! Also, I didn't have tears exactly, but, when I saw Extremeties...WOW!!! I had a lump in my throat the ENTIRE time. Also, Bang Bang You're Dead has MANY gut-wrenching moments.
The end of The Royal Family. Seeing as how funny the rest of the show was I never saw it coming.
Also, Raisin in the Sun.

The Normal Heart had me crying during the show - and anytime I thought about it for days after.
"Jean Louise?.... Will you take me home?"

As regards The Elephant Man - seeing it in a theatre was truly a life-altering moment for me - I KNEW I wanted to play that role someday. It took almost ten years, but play him I did, and it absolutely changed the direction and focus of my life. Getting into the skin of that amazing human being was the most frightening yet rewarding experience of my personal history in theatre. Everything after that was a slow descent downhill - and probably why I no longer have any desire to act.

In Movin Out there is a very sad scene when Judy (I think) learns her boyfriend died in Vietnam, the presentation of the folded up flag was very moving. I saw a few folks in the audience sobbing.

This is moments from STRAIGHT PLAYS, folks! Not musicals! (Just to remind you...)
I have to echo the last scene or two from THE CRUCIBLE. I was in a production of it where I played Deputy-Governor Danforth, the one that sentences Proctor. The actor playing Proctor was phenomenal. Each night, I would look into his eyes and be stern and whatnot, but I would have to look away because I could feel the tears welling up in my eyes. Instead of sentencing Proctor to hang, I wanted to hold him and weep. Powerful. (And it didn't help that Proctor was freakin' gorgeous, so I wanted to hold him even more.)
