Why do some shows change their playbill artwork during their run? Especially from color to b&w?

I have always wondered the same thing! At first I thought it was because they were closing, but then I went to see Chicago and I got a b&w one. Is it just to save money?

It is to save money. Black and white is much cheaper to print than color.

Yes. Always about money.

The B&W ones are provided without harge from Playbill. Thre productions pay (dearly, I understand) for color covers.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
