I am planning a trip to NYC this December and can't decide what show (or shows) to go see. I was planning a day trip but if I could find a cheap (but clean) hotel, I would consider staying over night and see 2 shows.
Any good recommendations for an affordable, clean hotel in the Times Square area? Has anyone stayed at The Edison Hotel? That is the only one that has been recommended to me.
As for Broadway shows, I was thinking of Cat On A Hot Tin Roof or Wicked. Has anyone seen either? If I could only choose one, which one is the best choice? Any other show recommendations?
To give you an idea of what I like, I've seen and enjoyed Rent, Lion King, Aida, 42nd Street, Cabaret, Chicago, Phantom of the Opera, The Producers, The Life, Miss Saigon, Little Shop of Horrors and Ragtime.
Shows I have seen and disliked would include Cats, Hairspray, Mama Mia and Les Miserables.
All recommendations are welcomed and greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Jim

Wicked or Ave. Q. You can go on a Friday and see a show, stay overnight, and see a matinee show along with another night show. The only problem: MONEY!

Definitely Avenue Q. And either Cabaret or Hairspray if you can pull off a matinee.
Wicked...oh yeah, and if you get a chance, see Wicked
.
Wicked or Gypsy
