Well, lets not be like the Broadway board where they rip every thing apart before it opens.
The show doesn't open for another 2 weeks- lets keep it polite and just pass comments on each performance people see as the time goes by.
In depth reviews should be kept until after the 24th!
There will be many problems with this show before it even begins to look like what the critics should see.
As I said earlier, when the curtain went up tonight it will have been the first time the show had been run from start to finish- ever.
Im on my way for drinks with a few of them now!

you have let your words of wisdom spread again mama! i think they will be good reviews and i cant wait to actually go myself ! im hoping to go to a 9to5 preview when im in ny will be like the 6th preview and not knowing how complex the show is something is bownd to go wrong ! every show has its problems in previews and that is only to be expected with a show so high tech as priscilla ! lets wait too see what the papers have to say ! then like the broadway borad those who feel they need to can tear it apart !

Totally agree Matt. Leave detailed reviews till the 24th, when the show is completely up and running.

Slight threadjack: I'm seeing the first preview of 9 to 5 in NYC, so that means we're there around the same time. What a small world this is!!

re: Please Post Priscilla the Musical reviews here.

I have been to the 1st Preview of Wicked and the 3rd(ish) preview of Spamalot when they opened in London. Wicked had quite a few minor changes in what I saw on opening night. Spamalot not so many.

It is important to rememeber that it isn't a finished preview, especially so early in previews. It does seem a little crazy some shows being in previews for more than a month (I know that this doesn't include Priscilla) but they are often very technical and need time to get it right.

One of my favourite theatre memories is the first preview of Wicked when the line "Look, i'ts Glinda" was met by a long pause, a backstage person waving some of the cast to move around then the curtain dropping to a roar of laughter from the audience.
That's live theatre for you.

Back on topic I wish the production the very best and hope to see it soon.

i mean the bus like chitty is bound to go wrong ! so that is one tech problem that will have its problems in previews ! and another is things like the set changes they will have to be made swift and slick so these are the things that over the next 2 weeks will be finely tuned and tweekd to make the show perfect for opening night !

re: Please Post Priscilla the Musical reviews here.

These are comments from two people on another board who saw it last night. I DID NOT RIGHT THESE!

"...Great fun!.....Being a fan of the film I was delighted to see many of the iconic costumes and hear familiar iconic lines. There was a cosy/cabaret atmosphere and some fans were dressed with drag feather boas and wigs. We were an appreciative audience and the mood was high. I found it less moving than the film and it seemed to have more innuendos and swearing than I recall -but I found it far funnnier and more entertaining. The wacky colourful costumes will surely win awards like the film . As for value for money I wouldnt recommend the outer seats in the stalls as they gave restricted views of the stage, set and some special effects. I was in seat 26 which was good but I still missed some things. Avoid the XBox!!! The staging and scenery were remarkable considering the constraints of a relatively small theatre( Palace- recent home to Spamalot) In my humble opinion I thought that Jason Donovan was a weaker singer than Oliver Thornton and a weaker actor than Tony Sheldon- but perhaps he was holding back for future performances. The Divas had terrific voices and the Ensemble provided the strenghth and talent you expect from a West End production and their numbers had us clapping along. The whole production rightly deserved the standing ovation we gave- especially for the costumes. The first night technical teething problems were hardly noticeable because it was so enjoyable and entertaining. There were many other comic touches and running gags which I dont want to spoil . And finally -praise must go to Priscilla herself- what a star!"

"OH MY GOD!!! AMAZING!! Had the most phenomenal night's entertainment. I've never experienced an atmosphere in an audience like tonight. Everything about it was fab. It has the best sense of humour and the numbers are phenomenal. WOW factor all the way. I'll be back XX"

"So did anyone else go toinight? I thought it was amazing, the speach by the director I thought was touching aswell as funny. I totally loved it from beginning to end, a fantastic cast. Especially liked "Tina Turner"
Would thoroughly reccomend this show, a real "feel good" show. Be warned if you are sitting in the stalls you may get to be on stage, as I found out tonight ;o)

Enjoy! "

"what were you wearing for your countryboy west end debut?

Totally agree, FABULOUS!! Priscilla, very versitile (may need to speak to Boris, for the Route-master replacement), even managed to get through, most of it.

Beg, Borrow, or Steal a ticket for this!! Tony Sheldon is amazing - when are the next Olivier Awards?"
