Hi there. My name's Jason and I've been reading a lot on this site for the past few months, but am coming out to New York to see some shows (I live in Las Vegas and this is only my second time seeing Broadway shows, or ever going to NY) so have some questions. Any answers/help would be much appreciated.
1. Is Cheyenne Jackson coming back to Xanadu the Tuesday after his last Damn Yankees performance or is he taking some time off? Is there any official first day back or is it just assumed to be the 29th?
2. Are Kelli O'Hara and Paulo Szot staying with South Pacific until at least August?
3. Will I really understand [TOS] if I'm not that well-versed in theater? I know most of the real staples, but the more obscure references on here like Bat Boy and Carrie, usually go over my head at first.
4. Is the theater Damn Yankees is playing in so large that Mezz. seats suck/need binoculars? I only ask because I seem to remember reading something about that in another thread, though I could be wrong.
Thank you for any help you can provide.
2. Yes.
3. Don't know. Haven't seen it yet.
4. DO NOT buy MID or REAR MEZZ at Ciy Center! Only FRONT!
Gallery is one flight above mezz, but sight lines are OKAY, but
HIGH in the Front Gallery. Bring Binocs.
Orch is best.
So for the City Center, would you choose
Orchestra Pit
Orchestra 1
Grand Tier Center 1
I would assume something Orchestra, just not sure if Pit or Orch1 is better. And thank you to the responses.
The Orchestra Pit is better.
Yes, you will understand and enjoy [title of show] regardless of your knowledge of the industry.

Um, Petite, have you forgotten about the constant LDS ads on the board? The medication is still recommended and encouraged.

Thank you for the warm welcome and suggestions. Will definitely up the meds just in case.
Taz, that reminds me of the part in ANGELS IN AMERICA in which Hannah and Harper are on the Mormon center talking about Mormonism and Harper says something to the effect of: "If the Angel Moronic saved us, shouldn't we be called 'morons'?"
Welcome Jason and enjoy your trip!
3. you should be fine. It seems to me that [tos] is a love it or hate it show to a lot of people (I'm a lover) but whether they love it or hate it has very little to do with their knowledge of Broadway. My [tosser] friend and I brought two friends from Texas to see it last night, who knew nothing at all about the show. One of them knows nothing at all about Broadway in general-this was only his second show, the first being RENT a few nights before, and they both LOVED it. I can imagine that your knowledge of broadway staples can only help, and lack of knowledge about "Carrie" for example, is not going to hurt you.
Enjoy your trip!!
