So the US Air Force is now being staffed by residents of Singapore? Are they being sent to Iraq?

To the OP. I can understand if you're concerned about missing a soap being filmed in New York due to it ending with the loss of jobs. However, it's a business. The people employed realize that when they decided to become a professional actor that they were going to be making their livings freelancing. Yes, it does suck and no one likes to see people without having a job. But, it isn't as if those involved weren't aware of the potential risks involved when signing the contract.

Well soap operas provide opportunities for Broadway actors so we SHOULD care, ok?!

I'm going to protest every time a restaurant closes!

I live in Los Angeles where there is plenty of soap opera work...

So, why am I working this summer in CT? Because it's nice.

I wonder if I should take my passport?

"Is it so wrong that people want to escape from reality for an hour or less a day?"

Nope. But the point is that not enough do to make soaps economical, aka profitable, or at least more profitable than something else. It's a business.
