I usher for the mainstage shows at Buck's sister theatre Pocono Playhouse, so I WILL be seeing this.
I also am a actor in Pocono's children theatre so if you come to see Gypsy stop by and see a children's theatre show.

We were in New Hope this weekend and saw the poster outside the theatre for Joyce DeWitt as Madame Rose. What a hoot! I've already made plans with friends to go down and see her.

Who knows? She may be brilliant, because what's she's got deep down inside of her, if she ever let it out, there wouldn't be signs big enough! There wouldn't be lights bright enough! Here she is, boys! Here she is, Bucks County! Here's JOYCE!

DeWitt has continued to appear regularly on stage and has an impressive list of credits. I'm not saying she's gonna be a great Rose, but at least the woman can act. So what if she hasn't been on another 7 season smash since Three's Company? I am always amazed at the scoffing stirred up when someone who had a legitimate, significant success long ago isn't allowed to re-surface without eye-rolling.
And I'll bet Plumb was actually charming - saw her in a play in LA and she was quite good.
To me, the tragedy is that these people have to put up with the usually dreadful production values at Bucks.

Anyone see that video of the soap stars rehearsing Busom Buddies? Scary...were they drunk?

Darn I thought she was playing Baby June. Regardless, this is possibly one of the funniest things I've ever read on BWW.

I thought at first: she could pull off one of the strippers that do "Gotta Get a Gimmick" But Mama Rose??? [shudder]
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

She'll be great as Herbie.

I have been thinking about this thread all day.

I have decided it cannot possibly be true. I mean even if the production happens, it will not be true.

Ain't there no decency left?

didn't Scolari also recently appear on B'way in HAIRSPRAY?

it isn't quite fair to hold past sitcom success (or attempts) over the head of somea actors and not others, is it? After all, Tom Hanks was Scolari's co-star. Sure, he's had a great film career since, but he also co-starred with a dog in TURNER & HOOCH and played scenes with a donkey in BACHELOR PARTY.

It's all relative. Joyce deserves jokes on her COMPANY days because the show played to the lowest common denominator, but she also deserves a chance to play Rose as much as any of you deserve a chance to make jokes about it...
