The Lion King
Tarzan
The Color Purple
Wicked
The Pirate Queen
Chorus Line

Replace Tarzan with "The Drowsy Chaperone". Tarzan is terrible.

I recommend by your critera:
Wicked
Color Purple
A Chorus Line
Two summers ago I saw 10 shows over 8 days in The City. Wicked was everything I wanted a Broadway Musical to be: over blown presentation, great sets, costumes, wonderful music and great actors singing & dancing on a huge stage. As much as I knew the Wizard of Oz story--they were still surprises. I sat in the second row from the top and still was not one tad disappointed! As for drama and music--to for Purple and Chorus Line.

DRS & Actor

It is presumptuous to say because you did not like a show it is no good.

You did not like it & I did. We can leave it at that

Based on your interests, THE COLOR PURPLE should be #1 on your list. Then probably THE LION KING or WICKED. But if you like drama and strong music, add GREY GARDENS to your list.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

DROWSY, definitely. It's arguably one of the most imaginative shows to hit Broadway in many a season. The score is a brilliant pastiche of those 30s era shows, and the production concept is nothing short of marvelous. Truly, you cannot go wrong seeing this show. Yes, ACL et al are good, but DROWSY really sums up the true Broadway experience. See it. You will not regret it.

While I don't agree that Tarzan is a terrible show becuase not everyone liked it, I'm going to say take Tarzan off my list and replace it with Wicked. I totally forgot Julia Murney was in the cast.

The choice may have been mistaken, The choosing was not...
