Plummer bolts after losing Tony

Anyone at the Tony's see Plummer bolt? This is from Today's NYPost...

THE MOST egregious display of bad manners at the Tony Awards goes to . . . Christopher Plummer. When Jefferson Mays won Best Actor for "I Am My Own Wife," Plummer — as grumpy as his "King Lear" — grabbed his own wife and left in a huff. The other scene home viewers missed was Hugh Jackman, while entertaining during the commercial breaks, trying to teach Sean Combs how to sing "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning." "P. Diddy didn't know the words, so Hugh said he would sing a line and then P. would repeat. He did the first line and P. Diddy stared blankly at him. Hugh said, 'Sing it!' — and P. Diddy, who was distracted being on the stage in front of 6,000 fans, said, 'I wasn't paying attention.'"

Well, when I was 10 I puked on (very near) Mr. Plummer's shoes in an airline club. At the time, my mother was mortified... I was old enough to be embarrassed...

Later in life, I looked at it as punishment in advance for Dracula 2000.

Now... I will change my tune. It was for this.

ckeaton~ way to go, barfing on the Cap'n! Trade ya'... when I was 16 I hit Robert Goulet with a heavy glass door knocking him flat on his back and me on top of him! All I remember was those gorgous blue eyes.( I was getting a passport in Philly for a European trip).

40 Years later, I covered South Pacific in Philly with Robert Goulet, gave him a less than glowing review and his wife/mgr. "VERA" ate me for dinner over it. (I have the email if anyone wants to know what so called "Big names" think of critics.)

Only shows to go ya that legends often have egos to match their age.

Plummer didn't deserve the Tony anyway. His Lear was a huge disappointment to me: nothng more than a 2 note performance.

I have to agree that Plummer's Lear was a disappointment. It went nowhere. Vastly overrated.

you guys... he was just probably going to go to the back so he could work on his performance without disturbing everyone. His wife just went with him to give him the cues

WELL, the Stratford festival PR person is denying it had ANything to do with not winning. "He had to catch a plane & was leaving after his category, regardless of the outcome." Thats the story & they're sticking to it! ( gimme a freakin break!!!)
