Why is there always this estigma around loving RENT where you guys instantly assume that anyone who does love it is young and un-exposed to anything else? I'm sorry, it just makes me so angry because... I'm almost 19 years old. I like to think that I'm pretty smart and that I know quite a bit of theater. But you know what? RENT is my favorite show, it will always BE my favorite show, and it's not because I don't KNOW anything else or am unknowledgable, but because
I think it's an absolutely incredible, powerful show.
Don't get me wrong, I understand where this estigma CAME from. There ARE certainly some young kids who just saw the movie or whatever, became obsessed with it, and now like to think they "know Broadway" because they love RENT. But honestly, there are many, MANY "RENTheads" who love it because it's ACTUALLY good, and because, even having been EXPOSED to other things, it affects them in a profound, emotional way, And I wish that people on here would respect that, and stop assuming that you have to be some silly little kid for RENT to be your favorite show. You dont- it's ACTUALLY an extremely powerful and amazing show, and I hope that now that it's closed, people around here can start respecting that more :)
(for the record, yes I know that La Boheme is the Puccini opera on which RENT is based

)
I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.
