Elphaba is there wanting Galinda to make her popular, to make her fit in, to make her not so different and so out cast, it's the very reason that so many teenage girls are head over heels for this character, it is who they themselves are at this point in their lives, different, no one understand them - This song is her one chance to try and break that pattern that she has been in her whole life, she tries to undertand and listen to what Galinda is telling her and hopes that she will, indeed become POPULAR - that is what she is doing is the scene. It is not about little movements, because Idina Menzel doesn't do many "movements" which is why you haven't gotten much responce from people. If you feel uncomfortable doing the scene, then you are doing it correctly. Trust your instincts. What would you do if you were actually in that position?

Come on now. If you're looking for emotions, don't use what other people have done. Make your own. I think you're having such a hard time getting what you want because no one wants to just give you the blocking. That's something your director should be doing. But the basic reason the song is there is because Elphaba and Galinda are becoming friends, and the only way Galinda knows how to extend her hand in friendship is to make someone over. She's not quite all there as a friend yet, but she's working on it. Through the song, she starts to win Elphaba over and they strike up a small, but resilient, friendship.

And by the way, a big hint that helped me in performing is that you shouldn't be looking for an emotion. You should be doing an actions that conjures that emotion naturally. Don't go chasing after an emotion, because it really doesn't matter how you feel, but how you're making the audience feel. If you chase emotion, it will just run further away. That was my acting tip of the day, people. Take notes. Haha.

Shes shy at first, not really into it, but as the song goes on, realizes Galinda is trying to help. She actually finds it quite funny that Galinda believes all that she is saying. At least, that'll explain the laugh lol

Why does everyone want the easy approach these days? Are people completely unable to do the work for themselves?
