I am directing a benefit concert for Broadway Cares/ Equityt Fights AIDS at my University this December. I am looking for song suggestions for the opening and closing number of the show. I'm looking for songs that have a few solos and a strong choral part.

Any song suggestions for the opening and closing would be great. Also, if you have any suggestions at all please feel free to post them.

What about "Opening: The New World" for the opening, and "Our Time" or "Sunday" for the closing?

"Another Op'nin', Another Show" from Kiss Me, Kate would be a great opening. As would "Comedy Tonight" from A funny Thing Happened..., or "There's No Business Like Show Business" from Annie Get Your Gun.

I think "So Long Farewell" from the Sound of Music would be a funny closing. "You'll Never Walk Alone" from Carousel would be a nice parting song.

Don't Quit While You're Ahead from The Mystery of Edwin Drood. It's a major showstopper.

And I just read the beginning of this thread. Sorry. But you know, if you need other songs, you could use one of those.
