I'd flick my Bic for the whole NE part of the country if I had one and I thought it would help! 
Poor people. The worst part is the cell phones not working so you can't even let your loved ones know your ok.
I think I would just try to find a hotel and stay the night, rather than fight the mob to get home.

I'm glad power is back in Nyack - now just waiting for power to come back in North Jersey so I can get my day job servers back up. It'll be a long night!

I had that damn thing. It was annoying as all hell! I did find out how to override the shut down timer so that I could downlaod the necessary firewall from Microsoft and update Windows. It only took me two hours to get to where I was able to key in the override before it would shutdown.

They're not saying if anyone is stuck in any elevators. Lord, can you imagine how horrible that would be? They have no way of knowing that it's just a power outage and not another 9-11. No cell phone. Oh my.

No - all our stuff is worm protected! Latest anti-virus software + latest Windows updates. We were all nice and smooth till the power went out.

It is a shame that they shut down broadway. Just think of the little girl who will miss Beauty and the Beast or Harispray.

There actually is a backup generator, which lasts for I think an hour or so... But in this case some sort of Internet link went out before the power did with all the stuff that went down in NYC. Bummer. But all's well that ends well.

It is funny...certain parts of my town are out (including where we practice for Godspell and Opening is tomorrow!) and some aren't like my house. I live in Ohio. Poor New Yorkers!

To DofB5, my first thought was that I would have stayed in a hotel too. BUT apparently the tourists who are already booked can't get back into their rooms, the hotel won't let them past the lobby. And the key cards in some hotels don't work. And no air. What a dreadful situation. Camping in the park, anyone?

its kinda surreal for me way the freakin hell out here in hawaii hearing the news about the blackout. the pictures of the gobs of people walking all over the streets and highways are amazing. the only good thing about the power going out is that i've seen the sign for millie four times on cnn. pretty cool. i hope all you without power are getting along fine and hopefully the curtains will go up tomorrow night.
