Regarding the hotel situation, my kids and I are supposed to be staying at the Marriott Marquis this weekend. I just read on cbsnews.com that people were sleeping on the sidewalks because the hotel had no generator to work the room keys.
Hey, to me that would have been an adventure--my kids would probably see it otherwise.

I commute, so I had to sleep at my aunt's and hopped on the first train this morning.
All I can say, thank God it wasn't terrorism, etc...Nobody seems to have been hurt and hopefully, almost everything will be okay by tonight.
Hey, BroadwayGuy2, regarding Light My Candle, I was leaving work and walked past the Nederlander. (I work on 41st). Those Rentheads were STILL hanging outside the theatre, waiting for the lotto guy to start handing out index cards. I guess they didn't really realize what was happening yet, but...my first thought was to get home, not to see a Broadway show for the 9000th time :)

I was in tap class at BDC the last 5 minutes when the power went out and they made everyone in the school go down the back steps in pitch black with no generator lights... morons lol..so i had to find my mother in a huge crowd of nyc... we got our car at 4:30 and drove over to hairspray to see if their was a show because i had to work and just that second the producer put a sign on the door saying it was cancelled mind you it was almost 5 by then to even get 5 blocks down because the pedestrian traffic was so horrid. then... mom,dad and me were stuck in a lovely car with almost NO gas for 9 1/2 hours..since there was no where to get gas, my mom had to turn off the car since we werent moving..and we had to use our windows with hot air...it took us that long to get from 52nd and bway down to the holland tunnel back to hoboken... i think we stepped in to our house around 2 something... it was A MESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank god when i woke up we have power. i love ya all

We started getting power back on L.I.'s south shore at around 10:00 last night, but some places are losing power again and some of the lights are still out.

I'm also on the South Shore of Long Island. Some of my friends say their elelctricity was back before midnight, but we had wo wait until well after daybreak.

Just to get back on topic, it must be the blackout! Also, why does everyone say: "OH POOR NEW YORKERS!!!" I feel for them, but what about Cleveland, Canada, Detroit, Toledo, Akron?
