No Blu Ray?
Thanks for the link. I just ordered it. Can't wait!
She looks Karen Carpenter thin on that cover. Must be the angle.
Looks like she's been stretched out a bit via the modern wonder of computer software.
I hope she records and audio commentary for this, though I suppose that may be a pipe dream.
I love her crazy commentaries, particularly on LIZA WITH A Z and THE BANDWAGON ("Michael, this is the best movie ever made! Look at mama in that costume! Daddy loved her so much. LOOK AT HER!").
P
Wait, Garland isn't in The Bandwagon is she? Does Liza think she sees her? If so, I need to buy that disc asap!
No, Judy isn't in THE BANDWAGON. But it's Liza's favorite movie, and she makes sure to tell Michael Feinstein that repeatedly! That quote I wrote was a compendium of her remarks from many different commentaries. Out of context they aren't nearly as crazy as in the context of the two-hour-plus conversational commentaries themselves. The 2 part NY, NY DVD interview is great too for a Liza fix in a jam.
P
Awww I was hoping she kept seeing Momma when she wasn't there! Damn!
I doubt this will be getting a Blue-Ray release...
Really? Why? It costs the same to produce and it was filmed in HD.

I'd love a commentary too--I have a friend who has shared many a great night with me with a couple bottles of wine, and the Liza with a Z commentary. Comic GENIUS.
That cover is slightly disturbing. Did they need to make her appear that thin? She's skin and bones in that picture. I'm not sure she was ever even that thin in her life.
I'm sure there are some special features on this, it does say it's a "special collector's edition DVD"...

Shouldn't there be a bucket of water coming down on her with the words "Flash Dance" underneath?

She definitely has been that thin.
It's a great cover, if a poor representation of current Liza.

"Pre-Order LIZA'S AT THE PALACE on DVD"
No.
This is a random question but does anyone find it hard to believe that the current Liza Minnelli is the same one that was in Cabaret? I honestly look at the current one as an 'imposter'. I don't mean literally as in it's a conspiracy haha :P (I'm not a crazy person!) I mean, they are so different it's so strange.
The reason I bring it up of course is because of the cover of the DVD case...it makes me wonder how Liza views herself.

I get what you mean but in an odd way I find her closer to how she was, certainly, than her mom from Oz to the last tv specials...
Liza's At The Palace will be on HDNET tomorrow (Sunday, Nov. 15). Can't wait!
I'll probably buy this, she made a stop in Louisville last year and I missed it, so it would be nice to see.
As far as the cover goes, if you remove the left arm of the chair sticking out, she doesn't look as thin. But there's obviously been some manipulation, look at that bent mic handle!
Airing tonight on HDNET!
I'm so glad I read this thread again. I had no idea it was airing on HDNET tonight! DVR set! I work but I'm rushing home after to catch it.
So excited to see:
Liza at the Palace at the MGM Grand on HDNT!

I know our tv airings will be edited--but for us sad souls with no HDNET--any word when PBS is airing this? (Of course my local PBS likes to air anything "artistic" at 3am and save the primetime spots for endless David Foster or Suze Orman repeats)
Close, BobbyBubby, but I think the title actually would be:
Liza's At the Palace: From the MGM Grand: In Las Vegas: On HDNET!
