Best Musical
Brooklyn
Little Women
Spamalot
All Shook Up
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
^ Just looking at the list makes me sad. Nothing on that list sounds very promising...my guess is that either Spamalot or Little Women will get the nod. Brooklyn (The Eden Show) can't compete. At all.
Spamalot or Dirty Rotten Scoundrels will probably be the forerunners for Best Musical given the teams and talent involved. Little Women and Brooklyn will be long shots. There's just not enough buzz, so the general public is not getting excited about them. Unless the critics absolutely rave, word-of-mouth spreads like wildfire, and a ton of money is dumped for publicity, the shows will flounder and be forgotten (Jane Eyre, Caroline or Change, Triumph of Love, and many others). Unpopular shows rarely take the top Tonys. Unless Brooklyn is completely brilliant and goes the way of Rent (though without the HUGE pre-Broadway buzz Rent got, I doubt it) it could hang in there.
i think it's going to be spamalot--there's a huge audience for python, all the actors involved have big cult fan bases--tim curry alone could fill the place, not to mention the azaria/simpsons fans...this show will have to be AWFUL not to be a success....

Forget about the ACTORS with cult-bases, none of them can beat the Monty Python 'cults' that will be seeing Spamalot.

I think Brooklyn is the front runner, because I have been looking back and noticing shows such as Rent, Avenue Q, and Urinetown taking home many prizes...I think Brooklyn will be the next in line, but yes you are right if Brooklyn is not popular then its chances will decrease

Rent, Avenue Q, and Urinetown, were, may I say "Revolutionary" musicals.
Brooklyn is NOT.

Have you seen the musical yet? If not how can you say so? I mean it is your opinion and I respect that, but I just want to know why you think that!

The plot, honestly, doesn't impress me. The music so far- is pop. POP. Pop's been done.
The only thing that will sincerely impress may be the actors. But will that make Best Musical? No.
And maybe it's weird that I have such an opinion when I didn't see it yet. It's just as weird as people who haven't seen Brooklyn yet- and already love it.

Yeah you're right, I already like Brooklyn and I haven't seen it yet either, sorry to by so hypocritical . Watch it turn out you love it and I hate it lol.
well, Lady G, if we take the Monty Python cult, the Rocky Horror cult, and The Simpsons cult, is there anyone left?

No one! Yay!
I was just saying that Spamalot, I think, will definitely do well in ticket sales- my bet for the most popular show of the season, bad or not.
