re: Pre-show announcements...

I'm not Mr. Gloomanddoom or anything, but I get annoyed when the pre-show announcer's goal is to make the audience laugh. Is it just me or does anyone else cringe when pre-show announcements are sugary sweet and people hoot it up.?

I remember days
Or at least I try
But as years go by
They're sort of haze
And the bluest ink
Isn't really sky
And at times I think
I would gladly die
For a day of sky

And Starbucks will use the words 'large' and 'small', not pretentious crap like grande and tall.
