panting like a dog at the sight of a 1tonne block of steak in a field of rabbits!

"no - I really shouldn't say that about him. We'll have to make do with

i really am. i sit at home and read the bible and sing choir songs...oh Scripps..it's nice of you to try, but lets face it, im just a horned up, hormonal seventeen year old, who drinks and smokes far too much, who gets excited when he gets the chance of seeing almost naked male dancers on stage, who have been choreographed by Matthew Bourne...

"lets face it, im just a horned up, hormonal seventeen year old, who drinks and smokes far too much, who gets excited when he gets the chance of seeing almost naked male dancers on stage, who have been choreographed by Matthew Bourne..."

Remove the "smokes" and this would be perfect definition of "little cherub".

re: Pretty As A Portrait Of Dorian Gray -2009 Tour

Six months later...

Sam is trying to clean up his image (bumping this thread won't help re: Pretty As A Portrait Of Dorian Gray -2009 Tour) and I finally get to see this.

It's a much darker work than I anticipated and, not unlike Mr Bourne's version of Swan Lake, very much open to interpretation. The choreography is also very much in the Bourne mould: muscular, angular and with a heavy athleticism.

Though there were plenty of male bodies wearing very little clothing and there was plenty of sex implicit within the work, it did not feel homo-erotic in the way that other Bourne productions have been. The story was simply too sinister for that. It also felt very 1990s: from the image of Dorain Gray on the adverts (that could so easily have been for Eternity or Obsession) to the final scene, which put me in mind of what happenned in a Paris underpass on 31st August 1997. As one of my friends who also attended said:

"I've seen this all before. Several times. First drink, then drugs, then HIV +ve."
