re: Prick Up Your Ears

What Weez and SoonerOrLater said too...

I don't think anyone can really say that Matt Lucas is "over-reacting" or "blaming himself", because he hasn't spoken in public since his ex died. He's dealing with an awful situation in his own way. If he felt 'going back to work' was the best way to cope then he'd probably have done so. There are no right or wrong answers in the immediate aftermath of a sudden death. But for the reasons stated above, this play has themes which probably hit far too close to home for him to deal with right now.

Surely it's the polar opposite of Tony Roberts in The Royal Family? He seems to want to return to the stage and prove he is still in fine fettle. Good for him I say!

re: Prick Up Your Ears

I'm sorry about Matt Lucas' personal circumstances but I do think Con O'Neill is much better casting.

re: Prick Up Your Ears

I don't see how anyone can say anything against Lucas's decision to depart from the role temporarily and now, finally, completely.
Please, just step back and think of the circumstances he was thrown into last week.
The loss of anyone close, and they were still very close, is hard enough but when what happens is so public it must be unbearable.
I wish him a speedy recovery from this terrible shock and a speedy return of the confidence to be able to perform again.

Al the very best to Mr O'Neil for the rest of the run.

The run has now been shortened by 1 week and now closes on November 29th.
The producers have also drastically rescaled the ticket prices.
Seats for the run while Matt Lucas starred were topped at 49.50.
For the rest of the run the top price is now 25.
