"Producers" - Review#1
Posted: 8/31/08 at 10:46pmJust got back from a WONDERFUL regional production of "The Producers." I went with my parents, brother, and grandmother. I thought that I would hate it, and that my family would be offended, but we all loved it! The Max was amazing, and the Leo was good as well. I couldn't really hear the Ulla (her mic was not working probably), but most of the cast was great. Especially the Roger. It was one of the funniest shows that I have ever seen in my whole life. They even did some inside-jokes, like in "Betrayed", when Max says intermission (it's a dinner theatre), so he said "Oh, time to wait tables" and also "Oh, I'm sweating. So much water. Even Michael Phelps doesn't swim in this much water". The ensemble was great, especially during "Along Came Bialy". Overall, it was a 5-star show. 100%. I would definitely see it again. It was probably even better on Broadway.

---Unnecessary rudeness---
Anyway, it's great that you all enjoyed the show. I think The Producers is gonna have a long regional after-life.

Are you in the show, know someone in the show, have something invested in this particular production of the show?

To top that, I saw an absolutely amazing show last week. It was just wonderful. But I'm not going to tell you the name of the show or where it was.
Can someone explain the point of posting a review about a show without telling where it was? Am I missing something here?

...and the "intermission" bit as part of the Broadway production.
Who the hell is Musicaltheaterfan3 anyhow?
re: 'Producers' - Review#12
Posted: 9/1/08 at 3:55pmI wasn't in the show. I knew people in the show. I've done shows there before. It wasn't at Westchester. I was referring that in the "intermission" part, he added "Time to wait tables", which I'm guessing wasn't on Broadway, and the Michael Phelps part wasn't on Broadway (well, maybe in the later run of the show, probably not, though). I don't want to reveal my identity/location. That's why I didn't put the theatre.

Well your profile states that your location is "somewhere over the rainbow".
Why don't you just stay there?
re: 'Producers' - Review#14
Posted: 9/1/08 at 4:07pmOn Broadway when Max says "Intermission" the actor would usually just sit down on the prison cot and look around or check his watch or something. Then he'd stand up and resume the song.
re: 'Producers' - Review#15
Posted: 9/1/08 at 4:54pmWow. It was a 100% show -- even with an Ulla you couldn't hear and just "most of the cast being great". If the rest of the cast had also been great and you could have heard the Ulla, what would it have been then -- 125%? 150%? Of course, if the Roger was good, it had to be a success.

He neglected to say that Ulla was played by a mime.
...a small oversight.

Posted: 9/1/08 at 10:09pmIf anyone wants to know, a stock production of this show just closed at Theatre by the Sea in Rhode Island. That old barn just underwent some nice renovation. I'm gonna bet you ten to one that whoever this is saw it there.

It's very possible. Musicaltheaterfan3 could have easily mistaken the intermission snack bar for a full dinner theater.

Posted: 9/1/08 at 10:17pmIn Los Angeles, Jason Alexander would mime taking a whiz, turning to the guy next to him, looking down, and saying "So What'cha think of the show?" Beat. "Oh, he's good, but he's no Nathan Lane."

Now if he did that in a dinner theater production, the patrons would think he was peeing into their gimlets.
Such bad taste!

Throwing it out there:
this is possibly the most useful thing MTF has posted on these boards since the time he/she said he/she was quitting, but they came back, so it doesn't count.
