Could someone fill me in on what the musical "Pure Country" is, because it's coming to Broadway, and I've never heard of it, ever!

Your guess is as good as everyone else's.

It wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen, but I can't see a good musical coming out of it either.

It isn't a bad film but depends on the singing of George Strait to really make it work. Leslie Ann Warren doesn't even sing or dance in it. Definitely a country music fan film.
I went to the workshop earlier this year and was pleasantly suprised. Lauren Kennedy, Michael Park, and Jeb Brown were the leads along with Dee. The book was still being worked on (of course) but the songs were actually pretty good and catchy. 'Course being a southern girl, they were hitting me where i lived. I think "Country" may have potential on Broadway. "Urban Cowboy," it ain't.
