Question about LitP on Broadway

Victoria Clark was of course the official Margaret and Patti Cohenour was her only understudy, correct? So what would've happened if Vicki and Patti both couldn't perform? Sorry if this is a dumb question. I searched and didn't find anything about it.

There was a lady in the original cast who was also understudy and she may be on the tour now.
