Question about Shrek.

I got the Shrek blu-ray set for Christmas and I noticed that the performance of "Freak Flag" included in the special features was slightly different than the one previously released on the Monsters and Aliens DVD. Several of the cast looked the same as the Broadway production, but the actress who plays Humpty Dumpty's costume was totally different and didn't resemble Humpty Dumpty at all. I thought this may have been filmed with the tour cast, but I could've sworn that the Pinochio in this recording was John Tartaglia. Can someone help me out? I'd greatly appreciate it.

I remember hearing that her original costume was too heavy, and taking quite a toll on her body. This must be from after they changed it.

I also received the set, including having attended the recording day. The show wafilmed in December, a week or two before Brian left the show.

Btw, anyone who has the opportunity to buy this set really should take advantage of it. Brian's performance of the Who Id Be is spellbinding. Definitely the best gift I received this Xmas, just because of the clip. Makes me smile every time.

Humpty Dumpty was later changed to Tweedle Dee/Tweedle Dum

Is the entire clip of him singing Who I'd Be on there?

The entire clip is there. The whole story box set is a good keepsake of the show because included are four songs (I know its today, What up Duloc, Freak Flag, and Who I'd be) as well as a documentary of the musical (both tour and Broadway.)

You know I rarely get goosebumps while watching a recorded performance on screen, but Brians performance gives me chills every bloody time I play the clip. If they never release the entire show, I would be more than thrilled with the whole story box set.

No. The documentary is specially for the whole story box set. Rob and Jason are interviewed along with the rest of the creative team. Hosted by Sutton Foster, the documentary features never before seen clips of the tour and the Broadway production. After seeing the clips, I've been searching for a way to contact Jeffrey Katzenhamburger. Missed opportunity on releasing the musical with SForeverAfter.

@phantomvegas2, I completely agree with you about the "Who I'd Be" clip. Brian's performance is truly spellbinding and he is why "Who I'd Be" became my favorite number in the show.

Also, I hope you aren't offended by a small correction, but the documentary isn't hosted by Sutton Foster, but by Cameron Diaz, who voices Fiona in the Shrek movies.

So this is what they did with the recording? :/ Crap. Well, I mean, it's still cool and I WOULD buy it...but I'm not buying a $50+ box set of movies I already own just to have that one dvd. I hope they decide to release it seperately, or maybe release the whole thing one day...

@rorschach37, no thank you for fixing that. I am on a plane back home and I was just gliding over my brain for the answer.

If any of you have a chance to see the WIB clip, crank up the volume and listen to how Brian gives and takes during the song. Truly one of the best talents on Broadway. Really deserved more credit than he earned (and this is coming from someone who isn't a huge fan of the musical.) Hope everyone had a Merry Merry!

@Overkill, each blu-ray in the set contains one number from the show.

Shrek - "What's Up Duloc?"
Shrek 2 - "I Know It's Today"
Shrek the Third - "Freak Flag"
Shrek Forever After - "Who I'd Be"

There's also a trailer advertising the show on tour. This set is definitely worth it for the musical performances. I already owned all the movies except for the fourth one.

See, that makes me even sadder. I loved the show and the first movie. The second movie didn't do much for me and I didn't even bother to buy the last two, they were so horrible. I wish they would have just released the whole thing. It's not like they would be losing money on it. All the people who buy the movies, would totally buy the dvd! :/ Ugh.

I agree. The DVD of the production was confirmed, but I think Dreamworks just wants to bring in all the dough they can from the tour before they make the production viewable from everyone's living room.
