What row does Row A of the "Dress Circle" hang over?
What is the difference between a Dress Circle and a Front Mezzanine?

Posted: 6/28/07 at 11:50pmThe Mezz is rather far back in the theatre, which is one of the problems of it. It also has a balcony which is even higher up and farther back. I think the dress circle over hangs around row T of the orch

Posted: 6/29/07 at 2:16amIve seen Ragtime, Chitty, Pirate Qeen and 42nd St here. Its the most awful, souless place on earth. I sat in row H for PQ and i was miles away from the stage. Shame really cos it could be a nice theatre. I do wish tha Young Frankenstein had chosen another venue. The show i cant wait to see but the thought of sitting in that barn again yuk!

i second the hatred for the barn. It's way too large to enjoy anything or have any sort of connection the piece on stage...

Pardon my ignorance for having only been in a few theatres....but is this place so bad that it could talk you out of seeing a show you really want to see?

Posted: 6/29/07 at 8:19amYes - for the price YF is charging, I will give up seeing the show since I would not really be able to 'see it' anyway !!
re: Question about the Hilton Theatre#6
Posted: 6/29/07 at 10:44amI saw 42nd Street from the rear mez and it was fine.
re: Question about the Hilton Theatre#7
Posted: 6/29/07 at 10:52amCraig spot on! It IS that bad. i sat rear orchestra for 42nd street and felt id bought a 'pavement seat'
re: Question about the Hilton Theatre#8
Posted: 6/29/07 at 10:53am42nd Street must have been staged very well because I sat in the very last row of the theatre, and I had no problems with seeing anything.
re: Question about the Hilton Theatre#9
Posted: 6/29/07 at 12:40pmi sat in the back of the orchestra....and it's not so much that i couldn't see (i could technically "see" everything) but the feeling of a show just doesn't reach that far back. It felt emotionless and disconected - i hated it. I would only see YF if i could get a ticket under $30, which seems unlikely.

Posted: 6/29/07 at 12:44pmi'm just glad i'm getting my company bonus around the time those tickets go on sale. i could NEVER sit in the mezz in that theatre. it's FAR
re: Question about the Hilton Theatre#11
Posted: 6/29/07 at 12:46pmThe only row I sat in at the Hilton was Row F on the left side of the orchestra and I loved it, basically because there is so much leg room and I was hoping to have those seats again for Young Frankenstein, but may not since they might fall under the category of premium seats, but I'll be happy with anything in the orchestra(I have to have orchestra seats due to my father and his knee problems).

Posted: 6/29/07 at 4:07pmIt's a PRETTY house.. but feels very.. sanitized.. and it is WAY too big. Leg room is great. But crammmingg that manny seats with THAT much leg room leaves you with the feel of a touring house. NO ONE has the star wattage to project personality to the back of that place unless they are 30 feet tall. The overhangs are VERY far back. Dress Circle is only 8 rows deep.. and the orchestra is about 30 rows.. so right there.. that tells you. The sightlines are GREAT.. but you feel very, VERY disconnected from the stage. Even the front row is far back.

Thats a great description BWG2. I will also agree that its a 'pretty' house but as ive said before why do theatre owners in NY light the houses so badly. London houses are lit impecably to bring out every detail- a show in itself!
