Piazzalites? Piazzanatics?
Anyway, was anyone else not enamored of the score right away, but slowly haunted by it? I saw the show on July 2nd and bought the CD not because I loved the songs on first listen, but because I knew I needed to spend more time with them. After listening to them on my mp3 player for over a week now, I find I am DYING to see the show again! Anyone else have this experience?
I saw the show before the cd came out and thought the music was difficult, like Sondheim, but enjoyable. I bought the cd because I buy all Bway cds and can't get the songs out of my head, primarily Say It Somehow which I want to go on forever. That song plays over and over on the cd player and in my head.
I think we came up with Piazzaholics.
And I'd see the show every day if I could.

How about Piazzaronis?
It took me a while for me to get the melodies in my head, sure, but as I continued to listen to it, I was just addicted.

Sluggy - I actually fall into the category of those who fell in love with the score the first time I heard it in the theatre. I knew then that I had to own it, which of course I now do
D Grant, have you been back to see the show since then? I just have a feeling I will enjoy it even more a second time.
I was very moved by the score upon first listening to it, and loved the show even more when I finally saw it.
I listened to it first at Tower records and the moment the overture began, I felt a tear running down my face. That's how much the music affects me. After that, I HAD to see the show. I find the score more and more fascinating with each listen.

Redhot -- I love how much you love this show :)
I saw the show, and the music sent me into an emotional tailspin of laughter and tears. Then of course, I listened to the recording constantly when it came out, and now I've been veering into other music (finally). However, whenever I need to be calm and content, I pop in Piazza.
I refuse to be called a piazzahead or a piazzaholic. If we must be called anything at all can we please come up with something a little more classy? preferably in Italian... ?
this time I agree with Cats - lets find a fun, yet tasteful title for ourselves...lol...
and musicnmath- thank you!

"Regazzi"? It vaguely reminds one of "Piazza" and actually is a not-very-translatable slang word that is kind of like "friends". LITP really doesn't inspire fangirl-ness as much as appreciation, don't you think? Maybe other Italian speakers have better way to explain? That's my contribution :)

I fell in love with the score the second they began the overture in the theatre, and the love only escalated when I bought the C.D. Getting the C.D. definitely made the urge to get back and see it again stronger, and I actually did return to the show a few days after I got the recording, and then for a third time a few weeks later. It's just the most gorgeous, stirring score I've heard in a very long time.
Regazzi is cute. It's very close to the words for young boy/girl, correct? (like Fabrizio says in Il Mondo: "Non puo amare un ragazzino.")
I think it would be better to have something with Piazza in it, that way people immediately associate it with Piazza appreciators.

flaemmchen - yes! the "ino" in "regazzino" just makes it more sweet and dear and sometimes more youthful (like Senor Nacarelli says "Poverrino, piccolino" about fabrizio meaning he's a "poor little thing, dear little one")....but the base word there is the same.
I think it shall be tough to find something classy yet with "piazza" in it. I'm up for options though! maybe we could do something with "light"? "lovers of the light"? :)
