#1Question for those who have done/seen THE PLAY ABOUT THE BABY

So, I'm reading (for probably the fifth time) Edward Albee's THE PLAY ABOUT THE BABY and am suggesting it for my theatre company to do, but I have to ask: do the Boy and the Girl ever put clothes back on after they are naked/in towels? I know they start off clothed, but (maybe I just missed a stage direction) I don't think I saw it indicated that they put actual clothes back on.

I just want to know because, if they don't re-dress, Albee obviously had a reason for not wanting them to be. I mean, I'm sure you could put the actors in underwear for the remainder of the play after they "run nakedly across the stage," but that's certainly different than full outfits.

Okay, I've rambled too long. Any help?

I've read this play several times, as well. I'm curious too. One thing I've noticed in the text of Albee's plays is that he writes VERY EXPLICIT stage directions throughout. So my guess is that if they were to put their clothes back on, he would have written it in there.

In a production I saw, the actors did re-don their clothes (offstage) after their run across the stage.

I saw the Off-Broadway production but I don't remember. I'm guessing they did put their clothes back on because I'd probably remember if they both spent the entire play naked.

I saw the Off-Bway production, and they did put their clothes back on, but I couldn't tell you exactly when.

They put their clothes back on before they reenter after that cross.
