Why is it that when you go to a broadway show and buy the program there it's $10. Then, you go to a store and buy the same program for $17.50. I mean I understand that Broadway Newyork needs to make profit too but I mean thats a rather big difference, no?

It's all in what the market will bear. If people weren't willing to pay $17.50, the prices wouldn't drop. What doesn't sell today at $17.50 might well sell for $25 next year. In most cases, stores and other venues selling those programs at higher prices are selling programs for shows that have closed and the programs are no longer available at the original selling price. Although I don't know what I paid for them, what would you be willing to pay for an original souvenir program from the Broadway production of South Pacific, The King and I, or Wonderful Town?

i, now, would pay 25 bucks for a sweeney program (but thats cause i probably won't beable to make it back to the show before it closes.
