Having seen many, many productions of Les Miz I was very impressed with this current revival.
Let me get this off my chest, I thought Daphne Rubin Vega was a REVELATION, a performance of a lifetime. She was heartbreaking, and I just couldn't take my eyes off her the entire time. The people that are going to truly appreciate the brilliance of her performance are those that can taste true acting, and not just hear pretty notes. Her voice is raw and honest, and she does the score justice.
Alex and Norm were also great, but took time to grow on me. By Act II, they were both completely solid especially with Alex's "Bring Him Home" and Norm's "Javert's Suicide". Celia was also incredible. Her Eponine was spunky and determined, but her "On My Own" wasn't the powerhouse I expected. Jenny Galloway and Gary Beach hammed it up to perfection, and I enjoyed Adam Jacobs as Marius moreso than Ali's Cosette, which was a little too whiny at times. Aaron Lazaar is commanding, and THAT VOICE! It was also great to see Nikki Renee Daniels and Megan McGinnis back on Broadway, but get them OUT of the ensemble! I'd love to see their Fantine and Eponine.
It was just great to see Les Miz back on Broadway. I admit to paying full price, but I had second row center and I'm not dissappointed in the least. Welcome home!

DId they have any merchandise yet. They didn't when I went shortly about a week ago.

That's incredibly condescending, to suggest that only those who know what "true acting" is will appreciate her performance.

Front row Center, and I'm not dissappointed in the least!
I was there last night, too [or maybe I should say "again" -- that was my fourth].
The production is now just about perfect.
What an enjoyable, powerful Broadway experience!
Daphne, for the second time in succession (in my observation), was right on. May the miracle continue.
By the way -- Tonight I'll be back (back in the mezzanine), again at full price.
p.s. An usher said merchandise will be available next week.
She didn't know if that means by Sunday or Tuesday.
pps: There will be no replacing of this Fantine or Eponine.
Hail Celia!

I saw this at the 2pm show, and I thought that Daphne did pretty well. I went in with a closed mind about her, but I was very impressed with her 'I Dreamed A Dream.' She has always impressed me and Les Miz is no exception.
I would also like to throw in how incredibly awesome Celia is! I had no idea she was such a good actress AND good singer! She was definitely my favorite part of the show. Her 'On My Own' was absolutely stunning.
