They cut the Harry Houdini scene after Broadway for sure. Other cuts I don't know for sure. It's been ages since the original tour, though I know I saw it. Nothing will ever top seeing the original in Toronto though.
Saw it last night. I was utterly disappointed with the "orchestra" which is completely synthesized and sounds horrible. Cheap looking production values. Some adequate performances but not of Broadway caliber. Left halfway through the second act. I still treasure my memories of seeing the original production on Broadway.
I caught this last week, and I apologize for the delay in reporting my thoughts.
After reading the thoughts of those who have seen it in this thread, I was actually pleasantly surprised. I went in expecting something of a trainwreck, and actually ended up enjoying myself. I found the performances to be pretty solid all around - especially Jillian van Niel as Evelyn Nesbit. The orchestra was disappointing with its minimalism, but the vocals of the cast were very good, especially for a relatively small ensemble. The house was maybe around 3/4-ish full, which I feel is good for a non-eq tour of a show that hasn't been on Broadway in half a decade. The acting was good, and though the set was minimal I feel that it worked. The original can never be matched, but I would recommend this production, especially to people who are unfamiliar with the show and won't know what they're missing from the original. 6.5/10
