Okay, I've thought long and hard about this (don't ask me why). Here is my dream cast for a movie/revival of RAGTIME (even though it will never happen).

Mother - LEA THOMPSON
Father - HUGH JACKMAN
Sarah - HEATHER HEADLEY
Mother's Younger Brother - NEIL PATRICK HARRIS
Emma Goldman - KATHY BATES
Evelyn Nesbit - JANE KRAKOWSKI
Harry Houdini - SAM ROCKWELL
J.P. Morgan - RICHARD GRIFFITHS
Henry Ford - DAVID HYDE-PIERCE

Wayne Brady...! I love him. (Stevos...he is the guy on Whose Line is it Anyway. The one who sings.) I don't know Jesse L. Martin, though.

I like the idea of Jane as Evelyn Nesbit. I can see her in that role.

Yes, The Wayne Brady Show, but I'm not sure if it was a talk show or what. I haven't seen it lately...I think I only saw it once and I don't remember much.

Original "Collins" in Rent. Now on Law and Order and has been for a few years now.

I love the Jane as Evelyn Nesbit idea.
I also love the idea of Hugh Jackman in the movie- in any role!
I also think Kathy Bates would be perfect for Goldman.
But I agree- your choices for Coalhouse aren't great.
