Yup, the 9th Anniv. is definitely Friday, I just got back from the show tonight, of course it would have been awesome if it was today and I was there, but oh well. Still great. We ended up in the last row of orch so me and my friend did a bit of dancing to La Vie Boheme(would never do it if there was anyone behind us to see), and I really loved the cast for the most part-major, major props to Justin Johnson, I saw him in January and loved him but now...wow! He just has so much energy and dances constantly and you can tell he's having so much fun and loves being up there. Cary has a great voice, and plays great anger in the end. I loved Krystal's voice, but Karmine captures the innocence of Mimi a bit more. Only downfalls tonight was Catrice Joseph went on for Joanne and I mean her singing was great for the most part, but I could just not buy her and Kelly as a couple. And Frenchie was out and Diana Kaarina took her part and umm...well, I really missed Frenchie. I guess I'll leave it at that.
But congrats to Rent on it's almost 9 years and for keeping me so entertained in its 9th year and my 5th visit.
"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli
