Dress Circle will be pretty fast to get this in, try them.
Then again if its not up for preorder on the mighty Amazon yet then it wont be anywhere else much quicker.

Have Sony confirmed if it'll be out in the UK? I wouldn't be surprised if this is R1 only.

They initially said next May and I've heard nothing besides that.
I honestly think it will be restricted to Region 1 as you say.

They have a DVD of Raul Esparza's Company for R2, if that's in R2 then the hugely succesful RENT is bound to be on R2, Sony will want to make as much money as they can from this, it's their final chance to make money from RENT, and RENT does have quite a vast UK fanbase does it not? I think its likely to be released in the UK, if not thank god I have a multi-region DVD player

I bought a multi-region dvd player- it has paid for itself in the money I've saved on dvds!

If you search on google, you should be able to find a code which will make all DVD players region free, IT IS ILLEGAL, (but well worth it!)

"IT IS ILLEGAL"

I want some of what you're smoking. It's not illegal to input a remote code for your DVD player WHEN THE FECKING MANUFACTURER PUT IT THERE.

Not all DVD players can be made multi regional..most can though.
It's not illegal.
The multi regional thing is only for the studios to be able to control what is available, when and for how much to protect their own interests.
As a side note, some US dvds of musicals, such as The Music Man are great quality widescreen, whilst the UK issue is crummy pan and scan
