Hop that bus, Snaps!

I know where to find that trailer if I want it, which makes this about 834973948739 times more frustrating. I'm just a little broke.

Believe me, Emcee: if I didn't have an oral exam tomorrow, I'd be up there.

re: RENT MOVIE TRAILER!!!!!

I'm in LA, and I saw Star Wars when Rent was in the previews...it was booed. ::awkward::

I think it was just too long for the Star Wars crowd to handle.

re: RENT MOVIE TRAILER!!!!!

Booed? That's... unsettling. But, then again, maybe they were just upset that previews were delaying the movie. re: RENT MOVIE TRAILER!!!!!

re: RENT MOVIE TRAILER!!!!!

I mean, I was with my dad who's an avid Star Wars fan and was definetely confused by the fact that they would choose to put a musical trailor before a sci-fi movie :)

Especially in LA. LA is a silly place.

Heh. Thank you, TheActr... Anchorman is a very amusing movie on its own, but that one line reminds me of something else...

re: RENT MOVIE TRAILER!!!!!

I think it did a good job of showing some really good dramatic moments and shots, and it seemed like a very "feel good" kind of movie...but I really wished they had played at least a little bit of another song!

re: RENT MOVIE TRAILER!!!!!

That's weird, 'cause... a lot of it isn't. The stranger side of me wants there to be focus on the dark, gritty stuff, but... I guess that isn't going to sell tickets. It's going to kill me, but I want so badly to see Roger shooting up, and things like that.

I agree with you luvtheEmcee...the movie better not be fluff or I'll be upset.

re: RENT MOVIE TRAILER!!!!!

I don't think we have to worry about too much fluff. The people involved have said multiple times that the show is being kept very much in tact, and RENT isn't all about fluff.

But if the trailer comes off that way, people might get a different idea.

re: RENT MOVIE TRAILER!!!!!

I did think it was odd that they would put Rent in front of Star Wars. It doesn't seem like the target audience for Rent. I think they probably just wanted the movie to start... or else they were upset by seeing homosexual PDA on screen. I was worried that them including that in the trailer wouldn't make the movie very marketable to middle America (the RED states! lol). I read that the advertising for "The Birdcage" tried to hide the fact that it was a "gay-themed" movie. For instance they never showed Nathan Lane in drag. That movie went on to gross over $100 million. However, I applaud Columbus and the producers of Rent for having the balls to put that in the trailer!

No, I don't think it will be fluff.
I guess it would be nice to hear another song from the movie, though. Since there are many other great songs than "Seasons of Love." But I guess since it's the central song, it was important to include it in the trailer. Which I'm dying to see right now!!!

re: RENT MOVIE TRAILER!!!!!

I really don't think the movie itself will be fluffy, but I wonder if the marketing strategy will have a fluffy touch, simply because of the "No day but today" message.

re: RENT MOVIE TRAILER!!!!!

I think it's a really tough decision to have to decide which side of it to push out there - there's the happy, "seize the day" sort of idea, and then there's the sex and the drugs, and the big, bad city. I'm not sure what more people would be drawn in by, honestly.

re: RENT MOVIE TRAILER!!!!!

A friend of mine (who's never heard of RENT) read the synopsis and said 'The story is good but the ending was fluffy.' The ending may give RENT a fluffy idea for marketing but I don't know. We'll just have to see.
I'm not a gay stereotype. I'm a coincidence.
