Does anyone know when the next time The OBC of rent will do a performance on broadway with the eight orginial people? I know thye just did one in April for their 10th but I wasn't able to get to it and want to see the OBC

Posted: 7/23/06 at 10:43pmNo one's mentioned any plans, and I can't imagine them doing this again until the 15th anniversary, if there is one, and maybe not even then. Google around and you can find a lot of stuff about the Rent 10 performance - sorry you missed it.

Posted: 7/23/06 at 10:52pmI would think the next time they would agree to do it would be for the 25th anniversary. But I doubt that show will last that long, and the original cast would be to old to be doing it than.

"I would think the next time they would agree to do it would be for the 25th anniversary."
Yikes.

Posted: 7/23/06 at 11:17pmThey are already way too old for "Rent" as evidenced by the film. Love the AARP "Rent" logo!

Posted: 7/23/06 at 11:19pmI could introduce you to a person who knows a person whose great aunt's neighbor could possibly have a copy of the last performance. Maybe. Possibly. But this would be very pricey. I would never do this myself and don't condone it in any way, but I see what a fan of the show you are and y ou just seem so special.

"The answer to your question is never. You're out of luck."
I know. Kind of like how they'd never revist "Rent" unless it was the whole original cast. Like in the movie. Right?
You can't possibly know a thing like that. Unlikely? Yes. But if the show makes it to 15 years, the producers would be all kinds of stupid to not take the opportunity to bank on another OBC reunion.
Then again, they often make me question their intelligence.

Posted: 7/23/06 at 11:23pmThey did a 5 and a 10, who's to say that they won't do a 15?

Whoe knows?
One can wait and see... Until then, there is the DVD of the movie with 90% of them in it. And the two replacements outdo the originals IMHO, anyway.

Posted: 7/24/06 at 12:03ambroadway and jerseygirls, the chances of Rent still running on Broadway at the 15 year mark are very slim. Even if it were, there's no way that the producers are going to get 40+ year old OBC members back onstage to sing through the show once again.
re: RENT OBC#13
Posted: 7/24/06 at 12:07amI wouldn't rule it out erinrebecca. Who would ever have thought "The Rolling Stones" would still draw audiences in their mid sixties? The OBC of "Rent" could still perform in concert and their fans would still show up. There is an audience out there for almost anything.
re: RENT OBC#14
Posted: 7/24/06 at 12:16amI highly doubt they will do another reunion. Most of the cast will be in their ealry 40's. All respect to DRV but her voice just isn't like it used to be.
