I apologize if this has already been discussed. If it has, I must have missed it, but I was informed by the (sometimes)knowleadgable CapnHook that the RENT trailer shown in theatres is slightly different than the one online. He said there are a few different clips. Can anyone confirm this? I have yet to see it on the big screen.

It's true. I can't exactly remember what was different, but there were definitely differences.

That is weird. How disappointing. Now I really MUST see it on the big screen.

SOMETIMES? LOL

It begins at the first music beat section - the "How about - MUSIC BEAT - looooove"

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

i just saw the theater trailer, and can't figure out why they're all standing on stage singing. Unless they still think they're on Broadway.

Well, you're not ALWAYS right, ya know. :-P What begins at that beat? The trailer, or the differences?

Well, no one is correct 100% of the time... re: RENT Trailer~ Different in theatres??

The differences.

Why so sarcastic midtowngym?
It was obviously filmed to show them singing the song intercut with different scenes from the film.
The characters all standing in a line singing "Seasons of Love" is an iconic image associated with "RENT".
I surely hope you're not that dense that you didn't get that.

sweetie, I rarely turned down good medication (back in the day.) FYI, i knew several of the Rent crowd(I hung out at Life Cafe in the early 90's.) We were all medicated quite a bit.
Ironic that someone would think i don't get Rent. I LIVED it!

Well from one former East Villager to another my sincere apologies!
Here's to St.Marks Place, Trash and Vaudeville, The Orpheum, The Pyramid Club. CBGBs, Cooper Union, Life Cafe and everything else that makes or made the East Village great!! re: RENT Trailer~ Different in theatres??

Yeah, I panicked when Pyramid started '1984' night, since I used to hang out there in 1984! My life is now nostalgia (and i'm not that old.)

Back to the topic...I saw it in front of Bewitched. It didn't look any different to me -- same trailer that's online.

I also saw it in front of "Bewitched". I have watched the trailer online far too many times and would have noticed any differences. The one I saw was identical to the one online.

I saw it before "Bewitched" and I could have sworn that there were differences.
