um walk through the staff only door and sign it? usually they don't care but if they do just do what they say and leave.

It's the wall in the alley way between the theater lobby and the backstage area. You have to go through a door that says "employees only" or something along those lines, and it's right there. It's not the type of thing where you just prance on back and sign it. The only time I even saw it was when a cast member had to pick up something from his dressing room for me and had my friend and I wait in there, so he wouldn't have to walk all the way back out through the crowd right before the show started. It's pretty neat to see, and legendary for who signed it especially back in the day, but it took me four years to get to see it. Updated On: 12/28/04 at 02:22 PM

i saw the wall by mistake. when i saw rent, my seat was in the second row. and when the show ended, my boyfriend and i went to the door all the way on the side because we thought it was an exit.. but when we opened it, there was the wall. we didnt go out and hang around but we looked for a minute and then left. we didnt know if we were allowed there so we just looked and left. it was really cool to see all these notes to the original cast.
its really cool to look at too. there is so much stuff written on it like you could stand in one spot for such a long time to see only a little chunk. but if you can get back there you will have an awesome time

Wow, a "huge Rent fan" who's never heard of the wall. Fancy that.
so sorry.. I don't have enough time to follow every single little detail. I was wondering how to sign the wall.. That's all.. Is there a reason to be mean??
I have always wanted to sign it. They should allow fans to i think. Well actually i want to be able to sign it!

um.. rent fans think that they should be able to perform in the broadway cast. most people, however, live in reality.
Why would you want to sign a wall if you weren't in the show? Who cares what the fans say...It's more interesting to see what the stars of the show put down.

The cast doesn't sign the wall, at least not specifically. The fun things to find are the really famous people who have signed it. So many people have signed it over the years though, that the older ones have gotten signed over and they've faded and whatnot. But it's clear that a lot of fans have managed to make their mark too, and it's fun to see what people have said over the years.
I just think it would be interesting to see how other people have been impacted by the show. How it touched fans and such. Just my opinion.
broadwayalto01, a RENT fan who doesn't have the RENT bible? I mean, there's a whole section on the wall in the book... where have you been?

You know, it IS possible for someone to just really like the show and not have the book that costs an extra $50+. Just sayin'.
I do have the RENT Bible.. Do I have time to do nothing but read it.. No.. there are other shows out there.. I love RENT.. However.. I have other shows I have to learn about too.. I am trying to be well rounded in theatre.. Not just one or two musicals... Thank you Girlfriendfromcanada.
