I saw it yesterday. Fantastic, honestly. I have no complaints at all. Like some of you guys said, this is what the 2005 movie SHOULD HAVE been. I didn't notice any shaky camera movements or whatnot- i guess i was just too wrapped up in the show. it's gonna be awesome to be able to have the dvd and basically watch the stage show whenever i feel like it, instead of having to either watch crap bootlegs or the even crappier movie. the picture of Jonathan Larson at the end made me lose it more than I already had. i was so emotionally drained yesterday afterwards.
taintedxl0ve, I know exactly what you mean about being emotionally drained after the show. I felt so tired afterward. I began crying during One Song Glory - wtf!? I never get emotional with that song but whatever. I was a wreck the last 20-ish minutes, and seeing Jonathan Larson's picture definitely made me lose it.
But the entire thing was simply fantastic. Every performance was amazing. The camera angles and editing were so superb that I definitely kept forgetting I was watching a recording of the stage production. Contact was such a highlight! I can't for this DVD. Oooh man.
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED ITTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I WENT THERE FOR MY BIRTHDAY PARTY SUNDAY AND ME AND ME RENTHEAD FRIEND WERE WHISPERING ALONG WITH EVERYONE THE ENTIRE TIME AND I MAdE HER WAIT FOR "THANK YOU jONATHON LARSON" AT THE END (WHICH NEVER HAPPENED) AND SHE ALMOST WET HERSELF AND RAN OUT RUNNING. WE WERE THE ONLY PEOPLE LEFT EXCEPT THE LAUGHING CLEAN UP WORKER PEOPLE.
Most likely. At least 4 cast members I have talked to have said it will come out on DVD (and as said they are shooting for a winter release). They interviewed some fans for the documentary (which according to a few people may be a stand alone movie). I was interviewed chatting with Gwen one day and that's what I was told when I signed the release.
I have a feeling the DVD will be sold on tour so they want to get it out to coincide with it.
