RIP Barry Moss

The theatre community has lost a man whom many outside of it may not know, but you've all witnessed his work at one point or another. Casting director Barry Moss passed away today.

Barry was someone who truly loved what he did and the ease and comfort he brought to both actors and creative teams in the audition room will be truly missed.

Rest in peace, Barry. You leave behind a great legacy and a hole that will be hard to fill in our community.

He was a lovely man. And the actors who loved him had no idea of how he advocated for them behind the table and behind the scenes.

He didn't only love what performers did; he also loved what he believed they were capable of doing even before anyone else thought they could do it, even before they themselves thought they could do it.

Very well said, PalJoey. I woke up this morning to sadly find my Facebook feed flooded with similar sentiments from so many people.

I had the opportunity to work with him on two different projects in the city, and everything you said is so true.

I worked with Barry decades ago from the casting side (as opposed to being an actor auditioning for him) and I can attest to everything said about him above. And as PJ and AEA no doubt know, Barry was just as enthusiastic and gracious when the actors had left the building.
