I don't like that people say that she didn't get to show her talents enough.

I think that sentiment is more about how tertiary she always was. You listed people she worked with, but if one of those people had died instead you would not list Brittany Murphy as a luminous star they were fortunate to work with.

People are just lamenting squandered talent. Her IMDB listing isn't proof that her potential was fulfilled.

What a pointless thing to be annoyed by.

I remember when she hosted SNL several years ago. She had gotten way skinny and she was all jittery and speedy. I had a hunch this wouldn't end well.

I think it was earlier this year...I saw her on the Craig Ferguson show (not sure if it was a repeat when I saw it) but she was looking borderline Karen Carpenter thin and was talking with a bizarre english accent through the interview. She was almost unrecognizable. I remember feeling very sorry for her.

It's always jolting when someone dies so young though. She gave some amazing performances and that laugh was one of the most endearing things I will remember about her.

How sad. My thoughts are with her family.

Very sad news, I of course didn't know her, but she always seemed so sweet and sincere.

This is very sad. I grew up with her films. I'm not going to speculate on the reasons behind her death though.

Yes! It aired in April of this year. This was when I knew something must be seriously wrong with her. There have been a lot of rumors throughout the years of her being on drugs or having an eating disorder, and I can't help wondering if any of them were true now that this has happened. Now I'm hearing rumors about her being on a lot of perscription medication and diet pills and such, but I won't believe anything until it's confirmed after an autopsy. But yeah, that interview spooked me a lot. She was so... different. Something was really off.

Rest in peace Ms. Murphy, You had talent and it is always a shame when young actors die. You always think what could have happened had they lived. She wasn't the best actress of her generation but she sure had charm. My thoughts go out to her family during this hard time.

For those who are saying this woman was not a highly gifted actress or that those who acted with her were not particularly lucky to do so:

I liked her in Edward Burns' 2001 film SIDEWALKS OF NEW YORK.

I loved her in Don't Say A Word and Girl, Interrupted. Clueless will always have a special place in my heart, it did even before this tragedy.

I just heard a clip of her singing on the Happy Feet soundtrack. She had an AMAZING voice!

The few times I saw her at premieres, she seemed about fifteen degrees off-center; there was trouble there, but you couldn't put your finger on it. It's a terrible thing when someone of such promise dies early (oh God, is this just a rehearsal for Lindsay Lohan?) and it seems that nobody raised a hand to help them while they immolated right in front of our eyes.

I hope she is now at peace.....

They kept showing her final interview on tv the other night, and I thought she was downright incoherent.

I also thought about Lohan after this.

I always wanted her to play Audrey in Little Shop.

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter
