Paxton Whitehead was one of those great classically-trained actors who is probably best known for (brilliantly and often hilariously) playing wet blankets or blustery Englishmen in comedies...and a face that you probably recognize, but a name that you might not.
After getting his start with the Royal Shakespeare Company, he spent a decade as Artistic Director of the Shaw Festival in Canada. His many stage credits include revivals of Camelot (for which he was Tony nominated) and My Fair Lady, and the original productions of Noises Off and Lettice & Lovage. He last appeared on Broadway in Bernhardt/Hamlet in 2018. He also made memorable screen appearances in Rodney Dangerfield's Back to School, Friends, Mad About You, Kate & Leopold, and others.
