Posted: 6/13/08 at 9:58pmYou know, I saw The Wedding Singer on Broadway, and he actually stood out to me a lot. I noticed that he was a lot older than everyone, but was just as good of a dancer, and was spectacularly funny. He will be sorely missed.

I moved to the City in the mid 70's and was Lucky to meet a gang of guys who all studied dance with the wonderful Chuck Kelly.
We went to auditions, hung out at the Bagel Nosh in the Village and celebrated getting and losing shows together.
We did Dinner Theate, we did Tours and we had fun.
We all had our successes and near misses togehter.
We partied when Peter and other friends got JOSEPH AND HIS... downtown and we chuckled when Peter got GOT TU GO DISCO.
We all went our seperate ways and then came the AIDS, and we watched our friends suffer in hospitals. spoke and hugged at memorial services and we went on and worked in the Theatre.
Then a few years ago I got a job on a Broadway show and there was Peter, singing, acting and dancing like he was still that young guy I first met.
We talked about all our friends who were gone and we laughed and we worked.
And then tonight I read about his passing.
It's just not right.
I know a lot of people disagree with me and call me names on this board but I try to say what I think and what I like.
This is a sad night and I wanna say Peter was an original and he should be remembered as an actor and friend.

This is the same reason why he stood out for me in The Wedding Singer. He was older but a really good dancer.
He'll be missed.

Here's Peter on the left (sitting with Daniel Torres) in La Jolla Playhouse's MOST WANTED back in October 2007.

I heard about it on a Wedding Singer cast member's Facebook and was really quite sad over it.
He always seemed like such a nice guy (not to mention really, really talented) and I'm sorry I never got the opportunity to actually talk to him outside of a quick "hi!" at the stage door.

I remember when I saw Wedding Singer, he seemed to stand out more than the other ensemble members during some scenes. Very talented.
EDIT: I just read a couple of more posts where people said the same things about him standing out - guess I wasn't the only one!
The article says he grew up in Fairfield and also has relatives there and Milford, which are both very close to where I live.

Posted: 6/14/08 at 10:28pmI worked at the Wedding Singer and I Always laughed when Peter was on stage. He was so funny and SO nice when he'd come in to our office for something. This is so sad. If you don't mind me asking, what happened to him? Only the good die young and god just needed better entertainment.

Peter died from Pancreatic Cancer.
He was acting, well for a while.
He did not want anyone to know or pity him, I guess.
My best to his family, hr is sorely missed.

Posted: 6/15/08 at 12:44amI first saw Peter perform as Pharoah in the national tour of Aida and then saw him on Broadway in the Wedding Singer where he did stand out as very funny and talented (loved the Reagan impersonation) and was incredibly nice at the stagedoor. I was very saddened to read about his death and he was quite young. I have the OBC Joseph CD so it will be weirder to listen to now, missing him and Laurie Beechman. RIP Peter Kapetan indeed.

Peter was one of the most talented people in my class at Northwestern. He had some serious ups and downs in his life, but overcame them all with class and courage.
RIP, Peter.

Posted: 7/5/09 at 11:03pmJust wanted to bump this up because I was watching the Broadway's Lost Treasures II DVD, which had a performance from the 1982 production featuring Peter as Issachar, and it was surreal seeing him as a younger man, as I only know him from Wedding Singer and Aida. That same face, but I've never seen him with curly hair and a beard. He will be missed.
