Hey Guys....
Ever since I moved to NY, all of my friends keep asking me about LOTTO tiks...if you realy want to see great shows, for the same price (and a lot of time the same seats), get Student rush....Usually Momn-Thursday (Some shows all week)--Right when the Box Office Opens (On the day of the performance...you can get them at 10 for a mat or evening) ask for student rush to the followinhg shows, and you can get really great seats for like 20 bucks....i just saw Sweeny and Wedding 3rd row center with rush tickets..
I know a lot of you already know this, but for the small few...trying to help some out
Shows that choose Student Rush are:
WEDDING SINGER (Usually always Available 25.00- great show)
SWEENY TODD (Mon-Thurs- Usually Always Available- 35.00)

Yeah, but the problem with all of the rushes (except Color Purple) is that they're only open to students. Where as lotteries and SRO are available to poor theater goers of all ages.
Chicago is also general rush, for those of interest.
Really? It's student rush according to Talkin' Broadway...
But then again, it doesn't list Lion King's SRO either.

Wedidng Singer has rush every day, right?
Yes Chicago is always advertised as Student rush, but it is definately general rush. Only the box office people know.
And yes Wedding Singer always has rush, after they sell out the front row they sell box seats and extremem sides of orchestra. It's better to wait for the front row to be gone so you get better seats.
I've sat in the front row. I like it. I've just never gone on the weekend before.
Ok im thinking about switching my plans and seeing wedding singer on tuesday night instead of wednesday, what time should I get there on tuesday to get rush tickets?
Well if you want to be in the first row and hurt your neck, than 9:30. Otherwise 7 PM would be good.

John's wrong. You don't hurt your neck. The show's really enjoyable from that viewpoint.
So tickets go onsale when the box office opens? but say if I were to get into the city at like noon would I still be able to get rush?
Lion King doesn't have standing room anymore. Right?

Yeah, I'd like to know about this also. As we can see from this thread, rush policies and pricing vary from show to show--but what about hours? If I got into the city in the late afternoon (this Saturday), what would my student rush options look like?
In the afternoon you should still be able to get tickets for The Producers, Sweeney Todd, Chicago (matinee only) or The Wedding Singer.
ETA: I'll ask again. Does The Lion King have SRO now that it's moved to the Minskoff?

(^ that was me above, I've just been having annoying username issues)
Ah sorry, I meant "late morning"...I'm going in for a matinee, and I probably won't be able to get to any theaters until noon. If I can get there a little earlier I might try Rent lotto, but if that doesn't work out I'm wondering what might be left in the way of general/student rush for the 2pm shows (in addition to the musicals, I'm curious about The Lieutenant of Inishmore). I know noon is probably pushing it, unfortunately... Thanks for any info.
I did rush for Inishmore three weeks ago for a Wednesday matinee and didn't get there until 1:15 and got third row left mezzanine. I have to say I think the show is better viewed from higher up, especially the second act.
JB rush is 26.25, not 25 dollars.
Also, Hairspray's SRO is 20 dollars.
