Rachel York sings "Around the World" from Grey Gardens

I really like Rachel York as Edie. Sometimes with Christine Ebersole I thought she was too good of a singer to be playing the Beales (since the real Little Edie couldn't sing very well, and even then she was a much better singer than Big Edie). Obviously in a musical it's best to have a fantastic singer, and Ebersole was dynamite in the role (both vocally and physically; her resemblance to Little Edie was uncanny) but I like that Rachel York has a fragility about her when singing as Little Edie. I wish I could see this production!

I freaking love this show from the bottom of my heart. At first I wasn't crazy about York's voice in the role, but I understand what she's doing now. I like that she's singing like the actual Little Edie, but I must say that no one will ever beat Ebersole at this role. The way that she balanced between the Edie voice and her interior beautiful voice was wonderful. One of the best performances I've ever seen.

Just a gorgeous show.
