Boston is a major city for BAA. They inundate us with tv ads and radio spots. I often get tired of them because of the overkill for whatever shows are coming to town. (The funny thing is, they continue to advertise even when the shows are sold out.)
HOWEVER, I heard a new one today that was truly a pity. The radio ad was talking about 'classics' and shows that you will just never get over and will live on and on: it spot goes on to list some of these amazing shows:
Romeo and Juliet
West Side Story (I'm guessing they didn't meant the current production.)
And then: Spring Awakening.
OK, REALLY? I'm a fan of the show, will be seeing it twice in Boston, and even went into the city JUST to get stage seats. But is that really a fair comaparison???
I truly wish I remebered the ad more word for word, becauses it really was a WTF moment.

That info doesn't suprise me ^. Kind of reminds me of thier misquided print ads being used now and from the b'way run:
"You Never Forget Your First Time".
I suppose if the first time I slept with a girl I got sent to a reform school, she got preggers, had an abortion without telling me and then she DIED from it -- it would be pretty hard to forget. I know times have changed...but is American youth THAT scarred by their "first time" these days?
I don't remember when the new season gets announced: but I always remember thinking it's pretty late in the year.

Are you sure the commercial was not trying to position Spring Awakening as one of the "classics" of the future? I agree the commercial sounds weird, but I was not sure if they mentioned Spring Awakening last and tried to position it as a future classic.
Last year, the season was actually announced around this time on a Monday. I remember because I go to school in Boston and was actually around when they announced it. I know the company has been busy with promoting Spring Awakening, as it just opened here, so hopefully they will get moving and announce the new season. We are getting The Color Purple, Rent and Jersey Boys this year, but they are not considered part of the season.
