I have one of the posters from the revival that was done with Alicia Silverstone, Jason Biggs and Kathleen Turner... but the poster indicated that it is a "new" comedy...why did they say that?

The Graduate has been around for a while, so why use the word "new" and it is consider a revival right?

The Graduate, as adapted by Terry Johnson, was a brand new play. It was adapted from Buck Henry's screenplay and Charles Webb's novel.

Exactly. The first EVER incarnation of THE GRADUATE was the 1967 film. The recent Broadway play was the first time THE GRADUATE was ever put on stage, therefore the 'new' fully applied -- it was not a revival as it was never done on stage before. Of course, the play wasn't a full-out recreation of the 1967 film. As Yankeefan007 pointed it out, the play was a combination of Charles Webb's original novel and Buck Henry's screenplay adaption.
