I saw this on opening night a few weeks back and have to say that it is a very strong production. It's perfect for the proscenium theater (I went in thinking it should have been on the thrust), the set is well-crafted and the performances are totally in synch. I have to say, though, that Harrison seemed to be a semi weak link. All of them took a good 15 minutes to get going but Harrison was the slowest of the bunch to really find his rhythm.
Harriet Harris was, as expected, an insanely good Amanda. Insanely.

Oh...and the big climax of the show where the Gentlemen Caller accidentally bumps the table and breaks a piece of the glass menagerie? Well...due to some once-in-a-lifetime random thing...it didn't happen. Bumped the table and the figurine didn't move a milimeter. And they had reacted like it had. Ouch. Still...the lady playing Laura worked it out and I ended up believing it actually was broken.

Thought y'all might want to know that they ran an article in the Star Tribune here in MN about certain people flying in from as far away as MALAYSIA just to see Randy Harrison in the show. And I'm dead serious. One person is flying in for a week and seeing all 8 shows. I'll try to find a link to the story and post it here...

that is great for him! though i agree, i can't see him as tom or jim either. hmm..
