another great recording is Heat wave with the Hollywood Bowl orchestra -- a concert of Irving Berlin -- fun, fun stuff and she is annunciating as only she can!

Her "As Long As He Needs Me" is the greatest thing EVER recorded.

Did you see her in Summer of Sam, Seany?
Sexy indeed!

re: Rave about Patti LuPone here

I was scared. She was turning me on with her 'Buenos Aires" on the Broadway's Lost Treasures DVD. And she is not that attractive.

re: Rave about Patti LuPone here

i have to disagree with u priest.. Patti is very attractive...i think shes sexy and her singing makes her even more sexier... she can sing me to sleep any day....

anyway, it depends on what you're definition of "attractive" or "pretty" is... is she a raving beauty like halle?..no, but she "ain't ugly either"

re: Rave about Patti LuPone here

I agree -- not a pretty woman, but there is something strange and intoxicating -- not only is she a great singer, but as she prefers to be known, a great actress who can sing...

re: Rave about Patti LuPone here

Hey!
Anyone know where I can grab tickets for Sunday in the park at the Ravina in Chicago? I heard rumors of 10 dollar tickets but my friend grabbed a single for north of 100 bucks....God almighty I hope there are cheaper spots.
Anyone? HELP!

re: Rave about Patti LuPone here

KMF....have you heard the Forbidden Broadway Parody of "Anything Goes/ I Get A Kick Out of You" sung by "Patti" called "Patti Lupone/ I Get A Kick Out of Me"?

If she didn't have that fanstastic personality and voice, I wouldn't be as attracted to her. Her confidence is so damn sexy though - GOD, I LOVE PATTI!

One you want

Lawn seats are the cheaper one - the more expensive are under the pavillion -- everyone sits on the lawn before an picnics -- the risk you run is if it rains....I'll be there Saturday

re: Rave about Patti LuPone here

I love watching her on 'Broadway's Lost Treasures' as Evita. She is incredible.

re: Rave about Patti LuPone here

and yet we have not even started to talk about her cabaret performances...Matters of the Heart is perfect -- I flew to California to see the opening -- have to tell you, when she sang All I Need is The Air That I Breath...she simply sat on a stool on abare stage with a shawl wrapped around her -- took this relly bad pop song and turned it into a classic "standard" love song -- she emoted so much by doing so little....

KMF_NYC: "Air That I Breathe" is my favorite cut from the Matters of the Heart CD. Amazing and just so honest.

Am I the only one who thinks that she could have torn off the roof as Mama Rose in Gypsy???

re: Rave about Patti LuPone here

Patti would be the DEFINITIVE Mama Rose.

I really think that woman can play pretty much everything though...or sing the hell out of any female character from any show.

re: Rave about Patti LuPone here

Having seen Patti do Evita, the thought of comparing her brilliance to the film is ludicrous.

re: Rave about Patti LuPone here

Not to get carried off-topic, but I didn't really enjoy how in the movie, Che isn't Che GUEVERA. He's just some "guy" named "Che".

Ms L. woul dbe a great Rose, but I don;t think we'll see her do it as long as Arthur Laurents is alive
