Last week when I got mine, TDF had NOT posted that the tix would be in the front balcony, but they did add that to the listing when it went up today...I e-mailed them about it because I wouldn't have purposely bought the balcony tix and they graciously gave me a refund, along with a nice message, even though they weren't obligated to...Made me love them all the more!
Smart move. That balcony is horrendous.

I've never had a problem with the balcony in that theater.
Well, I have (stuck behind a pole with no previous indication) and the management more than gladly moved my seat and apologized for the seemingly frequent oversight.
I bought the TDF tickets - still holding out a hope that I'll be seated elsewhere (it's happened before). But unless I'm sitting behind a pole, I can't complain.
For the price, anyway.

Isn't that ALWAYS a risk you take with TDF? I thought the tix could be ANYWHERE.
dramamama611, I thought the same thing. I was under the impression that with TDF tickets, you just end up getting whatever they give you. It's not like they always say what seats they have available and you can choose where you want to sit like you can with Telecharge or Ticketmaster.
Yes, they might on occasion tell you that the seats would be in the rear Mezz or Balcony if the theatre doesn't have an elevator. But, for the most part you get whatever it is they give you.
Eh, I went for it, even with potential of Balcony. It's a production I'm more "curious" about than "excited" for, so I can deal if the seats are awful. I also know the material, and it doesn't strike me as inherently visual anyway, or one where sitting close will add much to the experience...
I have sat in the top balcony of the Shubert on many occasions through the years and have never had a problem. I saw CRAZY FOR YOU 4 times in the front row of the balcony and felt that the seats were great. As a matter of fact, the top balcony is superior to the mezzanine at the Shubert, unless you are in the first few rows of the mezzanine. Otherwise, the overhang of the top balcony obscures the view from the mezzanine.
