I'm a reporter out here in Utah, and it's not very often I get to report on theatre, so I jumped at the opportunity to attend this staged reading of new musical "Humbug!" at Utah Valley University last week. It was a cool experience, and I think it's awesome that students got the opportunity to do this.
Producers behind this show are also investors in "Chess" and "The Lost Boys," and this is the first original show they are developing. Read about it here Broadway bound? Studio develops new musical through partnership with UVU

When I was at Illinois State University, there was also a reading of a new musical. it was called Brooklyn's Bridge, about the building of the Brooklyn Bridge. The librettist, Ray Roderick (who directed and re-wrote the book for the touring production of Chitty-Chitty Bang Bang) was an alum, and he workshopped it with students over the course of a semester.
